Thomas Colin Campbell

American biochemist, professor of nutritional biochemistry at Cornell University. In his work, Thomas Campbell focuses on the influence of nutrition on the long-term health of the human organism. He became known for advocating a low-fat, whole-grain, plant-based diet. In 1980, he first used the term plant-based diet when presenting his research at the National Institutes of Health. Campbell is the author of more than three hundred research papers and three books on Chinese medicine. The 2005 China Study, which also featured Campbell’s son Thomas Campbell II, became a global bestseller. His numerous studies reveal a correlation between the consumption of animal products and certain diseases such as cancer or heart disease. In 2011, the famous scientist participated in the creation of the documentary Forks Over Knives, which had a major influence on several people in eliminating animal ingredients from their diet. Thomas Campbell also founded an online plant-based nutrition education platform, the Plant-Based Nutrition Certificate at eCornell – Cornell University.
